Just as with hand massage techniques, the use of Essential Oils during infant massage sessions also requires greater dilution. Their skin is more delicate than that of an adult so greater care is needed to avoid and prevent skin irritation. While there are dilution charts all over the internet, they can be quite confusing to interpret.
TOPICAL DOSAGE GUIDELINES
• Birth to 12 months – 0.3%
• 1 to 5 years - 1.5% – 3%
• 6 to 11 years – 1.5% – 5%
• 12 to 17 years – 1.5% – 20%
• 18 or older – 1.5% – NEAT (undiluted)
DILUTION RATIOS
• 0.3% – 1drop per 2 tsp.
• 1.5% – 2 drops per tsp.
• 3.0% – 4 drop per tsp.
• 5.0% – 7 drop per tsp.
